Program Description
The Associate of Arts in Behavioral Science is an interdisciplinary program designed for students who plan to transfer to a four-year institution to earn a bachelor’s degree in a social science OR who seek entry-level work in various human service positions. In addition to general education, students will take required courses covering foundational topics in multiple related disciplines. They will also take electives giving them broad academic experience in psychology, sociology and criminology. Students interested in social services but unsure of which discipline to pursue should consider the flexibility and exploration opportunities this program offers. This program is designed for students who want to help people, but do not know which people they want to help.
Career Opportunities
Graduates of this program will be prepared for transfer to a four-year college or university.

Program Objectives
Upon completion of the program, the student will be able to:
- Develop a solid grasp of fundamental principles, theories, and investigate approaches in the realm of behavioral sciences.
- Examine the ethical principles governing behavioral sciences.
- Collect and compose academic research that summarizes the behavioral sciences literature, utilizing proper APA formatting.
Obtaining the Degree
To earn the Behavioral Science Associate of Arts degree, students must:
- Matriculate in the program;
- Satisfactorily complete all degree requirements, including General Education and Major Requirements of the degree.
Behavioral Sciences (A.A.): Accelerated Pathway
The Accelerated Behavioral Sciences Associate of Arts pathway is designed for students seeking a structured, efficient route to degree completion. This option utilizes six-week and seven-week instructional blocks.
Students complete up to three courses per block, allowing full-time students to earn approximately 36 credits per academic year and complete the degree in approximately 18 months. The accelerated format is well-suited for working adults and students who prefer focused, intensive coursework with predictable start dates and built-in transition periods.
Courses in the accelerated pathway meet the same learning outcomes and academic standards as traditional formats. General education, behavioral science electives, and transfer-aligned coursework are embedded throughout the sequence to support exploration, career planning, and transfer readiness.
Availability of specific courses may vary by block. Not all electives are offered every block.
