HSC 210: Medical Coding CPT

Class Program
Credits 3

Fall
Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) standardizes the coding system that healthcare providers use to report medical, surgical, and diagnostic services. CPT offers a uniform language for providers, patients, and third-party payers to document, report, and communicate healthcare services accurately. This course introduces students to the CPT coding system and teaches them how to assign procedure codes based on clinical documentation. Students will interpret medical records, apply CPT coding conventions and modifiers, and accurately report services to support proper reimbursement and compliance with healthcare billing and coding standards.
