This course introduces students to the healthcare revenue cycle and financial processes in medical billing and reimbursement. Students examine each phase: patient registration, insurance verification, charge capture, claims submission, payment posting, and accounts receivable management. The course emphasizes regulatory compliance, reimbursement methods, and billing used by major insurance programs. Students will apply concepts through claim preparation, reimbursement analysis, and performance evaluation in outpatient and inpatient settings.
Notes
Health Science students must earn a "C" or higher in all HSC courses in order to graduate from their respective programs.
